How to Oil Trombone Slides

How to Oil or Lube Trombone Slides

Ultra-Pure Trombone Slide Lube makes oiling your trombone slide easy.  Carefully pull off the outer slide and place it gently on a table or in your case. Wipe the inner slides with the Ultra-Pure Extra-Large Microfiber Polishing Cloth or a soft cloth. Be very careful not to pull the inner slides at an angle as they can be moved out of alignment.

Cover the cleaning rod with a soft cloth (flannel, cheesecloth, silk, etc.) to swab the outer slide. Make sure the tip and the whole rod is covered by the cloth so it cannot dent or scratch the outer slide when you are swabbing. Be careful not to push the rod too hard.  Just swab it in and out a few times per slide.

Carefully put the outer slide back onto the inner slides and apply 2-3 drops of Ultra-Pure Trombone Slide Lube to the upper part of the slide, letting the drops roll down to the bottom part of the slide. Pull the slide up and down a few times to spread the drops. Then use the outer slide to spread the drops around each inner tube one at a time, using a gentle rotating motion. Put the slide back together and move it up and down a few times. That's it!

Apply 2 - 3 drops near the top of the inner slide and let the drops run to the bottom of the slide tubes. Move the outer slide up and down a few times to spread the drops. Then use the outer slide to spread the lube around each inner tube one at a time, using a gentle rotating motion. Put the slide back together and work it up and down a few times. That's it! To refresh the feel, you can add another drop of lube or take the slide off and re-spread the lube on each tube using the gentle rotating motion. Apply fresh every day or two for best results. - See more at: /shop/trombone-slide-lube/trombone-slide-lube/#sthash.9DHeKsPh.dpuf

If your slide begins to feel slow or dry, you can add a drop or two of Ultra-Pure Trombone Slide Lube to each inner slide and it will feel great again. A light water mist can also help but is not necessary with our lube.  After a few days, you should do the complete wipe/swab and apply fresh lube.
